In addition to Awgrip’s generous donation of € 10,000, the charity total was boosted by two further exceptional contributions. The ‘Ugly Sisters’ bar, operated by Roger Horner of e3 Group and Richard Gardner of Global Services with great support from Amanda Butler as “Sinderella”, made an amazing €11,300 on the golf course. This total was helped along by dozens of generous donations including Captain Richard Hutchinson who paid the highest price of €1,600 for a single drink. They also raised another €6,000 from Lee McGuire of LM Group and David Ireland of Deckers for the honour of running the bar next year.
The second extraordinary donation came in surprising fashion at the Prizegiving Dinner.
Due to a combination of bad luck and an absence of babysitters, Beaugeste, the overall winners of the tournament, were unable to collect the Pinmar Trophy so a spontaneous auction occurred to see who would hold the trophy for the year. Derik Wagner of MTN Satellite Communications won with a fantastic donation of € 10,200 but he was pushed all the way by Wade de Claris of GibOil.

We have just about recovered from an epic golf weekend with you all in Palma.
I have been fortunate to see at first hand how the Pinmar Golf Tournament (The Pinmar) has grown over the past 20 years or so but having not attended for the past couple of years I was blown away by the quality of what The Pinmar has become. It has always been fun but, from what was once a hack around followed by a cowboy show, you have now managed to create the equivalent of a PGA event followed by a Las Vegas show.
For the guests, what could be easier? At the price of a decent meal you are met at the airport, transported to your hotel and then pampered by event after event in a seamless pattern. When you multiply that by the hundreds that attend we can only marvel at the amount of organisation that goes into making the Pinmar the social event of the yachting calendar.
