Pro golfer and 1999 Open champion, Paul Lawrie OBE, and TV presenter, Sky Sports News anchor and daughter of Ryder Cup legend Bernard, Kirsty Gallacher, will bring a Scottish flavour to The Pinmar Golf 2017. Well known as one of the world’s biggest charity golf events and one of the highlights of the superyacht industry social calendar it has to date raised almost 850,000 euros for worthy causes. This 29th edition, held 19 to 21 October, promises more entertainment and glamour – kicking off with Paul and Kirsty.

Add 320 amateur golfers competing in 80 teams and 1,000 VIP guests to the mix and we have an entertainment-packed weekend. The Pinmar Golf 2017 is sure to be the best yet.”
Discussing his new role as ‘golf ambassador’ for Pinmar Golf, eight-time European Tour winner Paul Lawrie said, “I got to know Remy through my former manager who introduced us. Remy told me they were looking for someone to come and host the golf tournament, run a clinic, have a round with some guests, do a Q&A and award prizes. We really got along so the deal easily came together. I’ve now got the Pinmar logo on the right side of my cap and am looking forward to the golf at Son Gual. Everyone I’ve spoken to about it raves about Son Gual so I’m sure we’ll have a great time.”
While Son Gual’s immaculately-maintained championship course indeed remains the host venue for Thursday and Friday’s golfing action, the Pinmar VIP Friday Night Party sponsored by Astilleros de Mallorca, who are celebrating their 75th anniversary, will play out at Palma’s newest nightspot, the Social Club on the Paseo Marítimo, followed by a new (and some would say necessary) addition to the programme, the Jotun ‘Recovery’ Brunch, at El Náutico restaurant inside Real Club Náutico Palma, on the Saturday morning.
This year’s Prize-giving, Gala Dinner and After Party will all be held at the 16th century estate of Son Amar – a sensational finale to proceedings. Longstanding Condor sponsor Awlgrip will once more lend their generous support, with assistance from Kirsty Gallacher as compère and Paul Lawrie to present trophies.
Renowned show director Martyn Smith, best known in Mallorca for his Sinatra-flavoured Come Fly With Me, promises a truly unique show to accompany the black-tie dinner. With a state-of-the-art Las Vegas-style theatre, Son Amar will certainly give Martyn the freedom to let his imagination run without constraint. The After Party will buzz deep into the night with top DJ and the musical force behind Faithless, Sister Bliss, on the decks. Sister Bliss’ Faithless is one of the most successful electronic acts selling in excess of 15 million records worldwide.

On the subject of charity, more than 81,000 euros was raised in 2016 and, naturally, the aim is to better this in 2017. The tournament is unique in the fact that the winners of The Pinmar Golf decide where part of the charity money gets donated, so you could say you are in effect playing for a substantial sum. Last year’s beneficiaries included Shambhala Fundacion which takes care of vulnerable youths in Mallorca, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution which saves lives at sea, La Sonrisa Medica which brings joy, music and laughter to Mallorca’s public hospitals and ALKFI which helps disadvantaged Filipino families through childcare, disaster management and environmental conservation. A dozen or more worthy causes, many of them relating to the nautical industry, also feature as recipients of The Pinmar Golf’s fundraising efforts.
